The safety of students and staff is a continual focus for us, and we appreciate your support in our efforts. As a part of that, we are letting you know that late today we investigated a report of a student who overheard another making a comment about an act of violence at school. While there is nothing to substantiate any threat to our campus, we know that rumors are starting to spread on social media. We take all reports seriously and we are always working closely with law enforcement on these types of items and there have been no credible threats to our schools at this time.
We know this can be unsettling. However, please take this opportunity to speak with your child about the importance of not spreading social media rumors and posts. Not only does it create issues on campus, but it can also lead to consequences for those who may post something that is of a threatening nature. Reporting any potential threats or issues is the best way to ensure the safety of everyone. For anyone who does not feel comfortable in reporting security issues directly to campus staff, they can also make anonymous reports through our Stay Alert Hotline, by calling or texting 1-206-406-6485, online at www.stayalert.com, or by email [email protected].

La seguridad de los estudiantes y el personal es un enfoque continuo para nosotros, y apreciamos su apoyo en nuestros esfuerzos. Con esto en mente, les estamos haciendo saber que a última hora del día de hoy investigamos un informe de un estudiante que reporta haber escuchado un comentario sobre un acto de violencia en la escuela. Tomamos en serio todos los informes y siempre estamos trabajando estrechamente con la policía en este tipo de situaciones y no ha habido amenazas creíbles para nuestra escuela en este momento.
Sabemos que esto puede ser inquietante. Sin embargo, aproveche esta oportunidad para hablar con su hijo/a sobre la importancia de no difundir rumores y publicaciones en las redes sociales. No solo crea problemas en la escuela, sino que también puede tener consecuencias para aquellos que pueden publicar algo que es de naturaleza amenazante. Informar sobre cualquier amenaza o problema potencial es la mejor manera de garantizar la seguridad de todos.
